First aid seminar, a necessary skill in sports

Accidents can happen anywhere, but especially in sports venues where the hours of stay as well as the burdens, both physical and psychological, are more, especially when you are dealing with competitive sections.

Our place is equipped with a first aid kit that usually allows the management of minor injuries. However, the most serious and dangerous damage to children's health cannot be supported if there is no trained person in the application of first aid techniques. 4 years ago, IRA in collaboration with EKAB of Heraklion trained coaches, parents and members of the administration. But what does a first aid training achieve?

  1. Compliance with legislation. Health and safety in sports venues requires that trained (proven and certified) female trainers are appointed to provide first aid in sufficient numbers commensurate with the size and specific risks.
  2. Readiness. The employee trained in first aid is in "safety readiness". This has the effect of increasing the preventive measures taken and limiting risks and accidents.
  3. Fast and efficient management. A first aid provider can immediately intervene and provide appropriate assistance until the ambulance arrives. These manipulations, especially in serious cases, increase the chances of the victim's survival.
  4. Confidence in actions in emergency situations. First aid training provides knowledge and skills to act with determination when the critical moment comes. They know the contents of first aid kits and how to use the specific materials in an emergency.
  5. It boosts employee morale. Learners with high morale are driven to positive behaviors and positive outcomes. First aid training guarantees health and safety by making them feel that their team cares about their well-being.
  6. Corporate social responsibility. Investing in education is an investment in our society. First aid training is more than legal compliance. Providing first aid training gives knowledge and skills that can save a life not only in the workplace but anywhere.
  7. Saves lifes. One does not need to be superhuman to save a life. Proper first aid training can equip you with the tools that can make the difference between life and death.

After these and bearing in mind that the First Aid protocol is regularly renewed, we proceeded to update it on Sunday, September 24 with a First Aid seminar from the EOD (Hellenic Rescue Team - Heraklion Branch) in the Treatment of Bleeding, Wounds, Musculoskeletal Injuries, Application of Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation, Resuscitation Position, Treatment of Drowning, Epilepsy, Fainting.

We thank Konstantinos Efthymiopoulos, Irini Gerarchakis, Manos Zervos and Aspa Oikonomakis for their prompt response, excellent training and presentation!!

We also thank the parents who participated in all this, dedicating a Sunday morning to such a vital topic. Participants were given certificates of attendance.
