Maria Ximeraki won gold at the 1st Balkan Rhythmic Gymnastics Championship

A triumph for our athlete Maria Ximeraki, who was selected to represent the Greek team in the 1st Balkan Championships held in Montenegro from September 15 to 17, after not only passing through the final without an instrument but managing to tie for 1η place together with Romanian ILIESCU Iris and Serbian Rekic Melina with 19100 points and won the Gold medal.

The athlete was accompanied by the IRA coach Froso Leonidou, while in the athlete's preparation an important role was also played by the collaborator of IRA and judge of Rhythmic Gymnastics competitions Gogo Antaloudaki.

"We are very proud of our team. In just a few years, we have managed not only to have distinctions at the pan-Hellenic level, but to have the honor of participating in international competitions, with the selection of our athletes in the National Team, and to be on the winners' podium. I would like to highlight the enormous contribution of the head of the racing departments, Frosos Leonidou, in this whole edifice. She is a model coach. It is no coincidence that recently we had the great success of the IRA with the selection of Margarita Kainourgiaki to the National Team by the Rhythmic Gymnastics Technical Committee of the Hellenic Gymnastics Federation (EGO). At the same time, the IRA now counts 34 athletes in pre-competition and competition sections of Rhythmic Gymnastics and 20 athletes in Gymnastics for All, while the Academy now exceeds 150 girls in the infrastructure sections", said the president of the IRA happily. Georgios Kanakis.
